What we do

Warwick United Charities

The charity provides accommodation for the residents of the town of Warwick who are worthy of assisted housing.

Almshouses are unfurnished dwellings, usually specially designed with the needs of older people in mind. The aim is to provide convenient and comfortable accommodation in a setting which allows residents to come and go as they please.

Applicants must live within the bounds of the town of Warwick and worthy of assisted housing. Applicants apply on the form provided, and are called to interview by two or more Trustees.

Forms may be obtained by clicking “Application Form” and selecting the option “Westgate” or “Tibbits Court” from the drop down menu or from:

Testimonials

Lord Leycester Hospital

Warwick United Charity (along with the other Warwick Charities) continues to support the Lord Leycester Hospital in its ongoing renovation and upkeep. The beautiful buildings of the Lord Leycester Hospital sit at the top of the list of the most important and intact medieval buildings in England.

Westgate & Tibbits Court Almshouses

The Westgate Almshouses sit right at the Westgate Arch into Warwick adjacent to the walls of the Lord Leycester Hospital, whilst Tibbits Court is situated in Brook Street in the heart of the Town of Warwick; both providing easy access to the Town Centre.

Additional support to the community

To the extent that there are surplus funds after the maintenance and repair of its almshouses, and its governance costs, the Trustees can apply those funds for relief in need for persons living in the Town of Warwick or organisations supporting them. In the last year the Trustees have supported Springfield Mind, The Warwick Food Bank and the restoration and modernization of the almshouses at the Lord Leycester Hospital.

Latest resident to move in to Westgate Almshouses

“I am so very grateful to the Trustees for bringing me back to Warwick. I am Warwick born and bred but circumstances led me to living in isolation in another area. I am now back in the Town I love.”

From a resident at Westgate Almshouses

"Overwhelmed!, thank the Trust for the kind gift, it is most welcome, and will, I think, allow me to dine at the Kings Head with my girlfriend. I have almost got to where I want to be with the flat, hanging pictures etc. so I am very very happy ..... Do have a pleasant Christmas, hope to see you if I'm home when you call in to see tenants."
